Emily and Stuart were having a lovely intimate wedding on Anglesey, with the ceremony in Llangefni town hall followed by a reception in Holyhead. So they didn't need a full day's professional photography coverage, and we settled on a couple portrait session, so that they'd have some lovely pictures of themselves. Since they didn't have a particular venue that they wanted capturing, we decided to make the most of the stunning scenery that Anglesey has to offer, and went to the beautiful South Stack Lighthouse near Holyhead.
Now as you can see this is a stunning location, although it can be really busy at times, especially at weekends in the summer. Stuart and Emily were getting married in February, which had the advantage of being much quieter. However, it is a very exposed spot, and lets face it the weather can be a bit of a gamble in North Wales at the best of times, let alone in the middle of winter. I was there a couple of weeks before and the fog was so thick you couldn't see the length of the car park! As a result we were all on edge leading up to the wedding day, but it turned out we needn't have worried. The day turned out to be sunny without a cloud in the sky. It was pretty windy and cold, but hey, it was February.
Now this might all sound perfect, blue skies and sunshine. However there is no shelter or shade here, and full midday sun makes for pretty challenging lighting conditions for photography. But with careful positioning and thoughtful composing of the pictures we managed to make some stunning pictures.
